Our choice of Newman-Dailey Resort Properties for our vacation site was a random one and we do not think that we could have done any better with months of planning. The Trinidad House was a perfect match for our needs -- everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly and I am still getting positive comments about the house itself and its location in Destin. This was a Family Reunion -- the first we have ever had and it was a good one. It also coincided with Mrs. Kirk's and My 56th Wedding Anniversary, and Mrs. Kirk's and our Son's Birthday, so it was a combination party that all enjoyed. We hope to repeat next year!

Jerry earned the "2011 Top Producer Award" by Newman-Dailey Resort Properties Real Estate Division. The annual award recognizes the real estate agent who lists and sells the largest volume of properties within the calendar year. Jerry achieved top listings and sales for December 2011 and top sales for the fourth quarter, which contributed to his overall achievement of the highest volume of sales and listings for the year.
Jerry has established a reputation for knowledge and excellence in the industry. Clients rely on his deep understanding of the Destin real estate market. While we don't know the outcome, we know the 2012 Super Bowl will be action packed. We did a double take when we heard Krustee Krabb restaurant opened in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Named after the infamous cartoon restaurant where Sponge Bob is a fry cook, the Krustee Krabb caters to families. Kids will enjoy ordering the "Crabby Patty's" while parents will enjoy the diverse selection of fresh seafood, including trigger fish, crab, shrimp, scallops and oysters. For those who enjoy following the many stories, struggles and accomplishments of our presidential leaders, the 2012 Chautauqua Assembly, themed "A Journey Into the American Presidency," will be of interest. Held in DeFuniak Springs, located 45 minutes north of Destin, FL, the four-day program (Jan. 26-29) features seminars, interactive sessions, history and art exhibits, musical performances, receptions, classic teas and reenactments. What is the Chautauqua Assembly? In a nut shell it was an educational movement that started on the shores of Lake Chautauqua in New York. In August 1884, the Florida Chautauqua Association was formed to prepare the first Winter Assembly around Lake DeFuniak. The Florida Chautauqua Winter Assembly continued for 37 seasons. In the late '90s, the Chautauqua Assembly was revived under the leadership of Diane Pickett and continues to this day, recreating educationally themed-programs amidst the beauty of Lake DeFuniak and the historic Victoria-style homes surrounding the lake.

Residents in Washington, D.C. now have direct access to the beautiful white sand beaches of Destin, FL. US Airways recently announced that it will begin daily non-stop service from Northwest Florida Regional Airport (VPS) to Washington Regan-National Airport (DCA), starting March 25, 2012. US Airways will operate a 50-seat CRJ regional jet that departs DCA at 2:40 p.m. and arrives VPS at 4:13 p.m., then stays at the gate for a 37-minute turn, departing for Washington DC at 4:50 p.m. and arriving at DCA at 8:13 p.m. daily. The 30A Songwriters Festival is this weekend! Songwriters from across the country will gather in South Walton and Destin, FL for the third annual event, Jan. 13-15. We're told the three-day festival will include more than 125 musicians and over 250 performances in venues ranging from intimate listening rooms to spacious outdoor amphitheaters. It's the First Friday of 2012 and since our theme for this year is celebrations, a Friday Wine Tasting at Chan's Wine World may be in order. Many enjoy the relaxing sounds of the beach, including the sound of waves lapping the shore, seagulls calling as they fly overhead and children's laughter. And now South Walton has a another sound--a song.
The area's beaches are irresistible to many, including talented musicians. We know of several celebrity songwriters and musicians, including Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, Amy Grant and Vince Gill and Kellie Pickler who come to our beautiful beaches to escape. And we recently learned Susanna Hoffs of the Bangles loves this area too! Known for hits, including "Walk Like An Egyptian," "Manic Monday" and "Eternal Flame," Hoffs recently recorded a song for South Walton. Check out "This is the Place" to hear Hoffs rendition of what South Walton means to her. We agree.
