Vacationing at Call it Blessed seems to have such a wonderful effect on its guests that blessings are too numerous to count! It echoes the ever awesome Gulf of Mexico just across the street with its calming blue and white exterior and vast spaciousness. Great for long-needed reunions or multiple family getaways, this huge beach home has it all. The first floor is comprised of a large game room with a pool table and separate movie room, all of which open up to the pool deck. The lagoon style pool is surrounded by plenty of lounge chairs for soaking up the lovely Destin sunshine. A picture-perfect staple of a true southern home can be found on the second floor, a complete wraparound porch! The house was very clean when we arrived. It was in a good location for our trip and beach access was really nice for a non beach-front house. We especially liked the door keypad, which made access and departure very easy. There were sufficient linens and towels to support our family group. The parking was sufficient for our extended family, including a boat. The tables, chairs, sofas, and general decor inside the house were appropriate and nicely arranged to suite our needs. There were chairs on the porch/deck; however, some were cheaply made and seemed somewhat flimsy. Cookware and eating utensils were good, but improvement could be made in the quantity of left-over dishes. Overall, the stay was great. We did have an experience where the hot water was "out" for a day and a half. The repairman came and replaced the main breaker for the hot water heater. We had learned that he had been out the previous week for a similar problem with this breaker (such is the life of home-ownership and rental). Communication of the targeted "fix" time could have been better, but the problem was fixed in short order and we managed just as we would at home. We are certainly glad the timing worked out for this home and we would definitely stay here again, if the opportunity arises. I am originally from the area (lived in Shalimar for about 8 years) in the 1970's. Reviewed on Friday, June 11, 2010 The Destin beaches are absolutely phenomenal !!! You must come (I would hurry) while the beaches are still in excellent shape, which they are.
My wife and I came down with our parents and our young daughter. The house is ever so sightly worse for wear, but it is absolutely great. Plenty of very well positioned bedrooms, lots of bathrooms. The game room was very handy. The parking there is very good as well.
I am giving this property an overall rating of Very Good only because the house is not in exeptional condition, but my overall experience was mostly excellent.
The deck on the second story is gigantic and wraps around 3/4 of the house. It has excellent views of the ocean. (Far better than many of the current rentals offer - at least at this price range.)
The pool was perfect. It has good space surrounding it with covered and uncovered areas. Handy for when it rains.
The pictures of the upstairs living room and dining areas don't really do the space justice. It is rather a cute room and the kitchen has excellent space. We ate virtually every meal at the kitchen/bar stool area.
Let me tell you about the beach access, it is excellent.
It would be hard to do much better (the location) unless you were directly on the beach. We have stayed at other rentals and this was by far the best beach access we have enjoyed (no stairs down/up, flat, shower at the entrance, parking for your golf cart)
By the way, you must rent a golf cart, it is well worth the money.
This was our best Destin vacation yet. I hope we can have many more. Newman Dailey was very good to deal with. You can't go wrong with this space. Reviewed on Wednesday, May 26, 2010
