The Brahms Requiem - Northwest FL Symphony Orchestra

Two veteran performers with the Pensacola Opera, who both boast national professional careers, will join the NFSO and the symphony chorus for the A. German Requiem on April 13th with soprano Jane Redding and baritone Timothy Kennedy.

Kennedy is the Director of Education and Community Outreach for the Pensacola Opera as well as an adjunct professor for the University of West Florida. His varied international performance career includes musical theater, operatic and concert performances.

The Arts Center at Okaloosa-Walton College has added a great children’s show to the 10th anniversary season lineup. “Captain Louie”, a new family musical based on the picture book “The Trip” by Caldecott-Winner Ezra Jack Keats, is coming to The Arts Center on March 1 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for this performance, geared for elementary and younger age children, are available for only $6 each through The Arts Center box office by phone or in-person. The show features a score by Stephen Schwartz, who is the Academy Award-winning songwriter behind “Pocahontas”, “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”, “The Prince of Egypt”, “Wicked”, “Godspell”, “Pippin” and “The Magic Show”. Mr. Schwartz is also the recipient of four Grammy Awards and three Drama Desk Awards. In “Captain Louie”, Louie's family has recently moved to a new neighborhood. Lonely and feeling friendless, Louie goes back to his room to play with his favorite toy, Red, his little red plane. When Red "suggests" that they take a trip back to his old neighborhood, Louie makes a diorama out of an old shoebox covered with purple cellophane. He looks into it and, in his imagination, they are off!
