Nashville Songwriters Florida Sunshine Tour (Aug 9-13)

Live music is a staple along the beaches of South Walton and Destin, Florida. And country music fans especially enjoy the regular touring performances by Nashville Songwriters. In January many perform at the 30A Songwriters Festival, in April acclaimed Nashville Songwriters perform during the South Walton Beaches Wine & Food Festival, and this month the Emerald Coast will enjoy performances as part of the Florida Sunshine Tour (Aug. 9-13).

Performances by country music songwriters Shane Minor and Phil “Philbilly” O’Donnell will be held at five venues along Northwest Florida beaches. Venues include Bud & Alley’s, Emerald Grande at Harborwalk Village, The Bay, The Hub, and Boardwalk Beach. The performances are free and open to the public, offering guests the opportunity to enjoy the hits heard on the radio performed “acoustically live in concert” by the songwriters who wrote them. The intimate settings allow the artists to connect with the audience and share the stories behind the songs.

If the best songs come from life's own experiences, Shane Minor has a lot to pull from.  Shane’s self-titled record was released in 1999. "Slave to the Habit", his first single, went top 10 on the Country Billboard charts. He was Shania Twain’s opening act on her 18-month stadium tour. His video for “Slave to the Habit” won him VH1/MTV awards which were some of the first ever given to country artists. After his journey with Mercury Records, Shane turned down making another record to pursue his love --- writing songs. Shane knows his way around the Billboard charts. He has spent time there with his own songs as an artist and a writer. Shane is currently one of Sony Nashville's most prestigious songwriters. He not only writes but mentors newly-signed artists. He is also an award-winning member of BMI Nashville.

If you listen to country radio you will hear a Shane Minor song sung by major artists and rising stars as well. Shane has written for Kenny Chesney, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Cole Swindell, Parmalee, Jamey Johnson, Eric Church, Easton Corbin, Rascal Flatts, Brantley Gilbert, Randy Houser, Justin Moore, Chase Rice, Chris Young, Diamond Rio, Clay Walker, Craig Morgan, Neal McCoy, Tyler Farr, The Farm, Kevin Fowler, Rodney Atkins, Love and Theft, Brett Michaels, Josh Thompson, Trace Adkins, and many more.

Phil “Philbilly” McDonnell worked as a musician, playing guitar with many artists including Craig Morgan, Jeff Carson, Kevin Denney, Johnny Lee, and Sherrie Austin. O’Donnell’s songwriting credits include George Strait, Blake Shelton, Darius Rucker, Brad Paisley, Parmalee, Easton Corbin, Montgomery Gentry, Craig Morgan, Joe Diffie, Clay Walker, Darryl Worley, Rodney Atkins, Tyler Farr, William Michael Morgan, Craig Campbell, Josh Thompson, Justin Moore, Kelly Pickler, Tate Stevens, Scotty McCreery, Trace Atkins, Clint Black, Chris Janson, Matt Mason, Mark Chestnut, Tracy Byrd, Billy Ray Cyrus, Travis Tritt, Gretchen Wilson, Randy Travis, Neal McCoy, Tracy Lawrence, Sammy Kershaw, Tucker Beathard, and many others.
