Mardi Gras Celebrations on Florida's Emerald Coast

It’s Mardi Gras season and the entire Gulf Coast is celebrating! With a variety of Mardi Gras events stretching from Sandestin to the Destin Harbor, there is a plenty of revelry to go around. 
 
On Feb 25 at HarborWalk Village, attend the 9th Annual Mardi Parade, overlooking the Destin Harbor. Beads, beads and more beads on the Destin Harbor.  The Good Times Roll with dazzling floats, colorful costumes, beads, street performers, live music as the parade rolls through the Destin Harbor Boardwalk at 2:00 PM.
 
Also on Feb. 25, LuLu’s will host the inaugural Birds of Paradise Mardi Gras Ball presented by Krewe De Lu Roux at 7 p.m. Dress in island elegance and enjoy a festive evening with live entertainment bringing funk and Motown classics to the stage with Hotwire. Watch the welcoming and official coronation of Mardi Gras King and Queen, community leader Cory Fosdyck, and food critic and blogger Susan Benton.  Feast on a delicious buffet dinner with a menu unique to the evening featuring an open bar with select wine, beer and liquor at this all-inclusive event for $65. The Mardi Gras Ball is a 21 and older event and LuLu’s will be closed to the public for the Mardi Gras Ball. LuLu’s is located in Destin at the foot of the Mid Bay Bridge, next to Legendary Marina.

On Sunday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m., the Village of Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin will host the 14thAnnual Mardi Gras Dog Parade, featuring “Canines & Comics” as this year’s theme. The streets will be filled with costumed dogs and their humans throwing a myriad of throws, beads, and parade favors. Themed convertibles, small floats (pulled by masters), golf carts, bicycles, and decorated wagons will be everywhere and Mardi Gras music will fill the air.
