great vacation spot

  5 of 5 stars

We had an amazing vacation at Blue Mountain unit 103. The condo was so clean and well kept. The building itself is tucked out of the way from the hustle and bustle and nestled perfectly off of our favorite scenic route 30a. We had 6 adults and used each room and had plenty of space for all of us and our stuff. This is a true diamond in the Lupine rough. We can't wait to make plans for our next trip.

Great Family memories

This was our first time staying in the 30A area. It is much quieter and less hectic than Destin, but there are pros and cons to each, depending on what type of vacation you desire. The drive along 30A from Dune Allen Beach to Rosemary Beach is lovely.... quaint villages and opulent communities. The coastal dune lakes are added attractions but you also have to be more careful as deer and other wildlife also make the surrounding forests their home. We avoided driving after dark when possible. Highway 98 is always busy so we found 30A to be a relaxing change. It should be noted there is NO WATER VIEW from this unit but that was not an issue for us as it was a two minute walk out to the deck overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Interior of Unit 103 was exactly as pictured online. Lobby and atrium were very nice and it was easy to get from Unit 103 to the exit that lead to walkway going to the pool, jacuzzi and walkway over the dunes and then 30+ stairs down to the AMAZING BEACH! This smaller complex was very well maintained by Newman Dailey and SUNSETS, SURF, and SANDBARS were SUPER. Layout of building - 12 units on each of 4 stories. Units x01, x02, x03, x04 face East. Units x21, x22, x23, x24 face West so get more light during the day but they also are hotter in the evening. Water Views are limited from any of these units, and was non-existent from those on 1st and 2nd floors. Gulf Front units are numbered x11, x12, x13, and x14, but only those on 3rd and 4th floors had unobstructed views of the Gulf. The extra price for gulf front units would not be worth it as far as we were concerned as any noise from pool and jacuzzi would be heard in gulf front units. When at the pool, we could clearly hear conversations of the folks staying in the GF units. The spacious balcony of 103 had comfy furniture and was sunny until mid-morning. DIRECT VIEW from the balcony was into the backyard of a tall house in White Cliffs Village. TWO LARGE DOGS seemed to be the only users of that yard and one liked to bark - long and loud. Homes are still being built in the area so there was construction noise most days Mondays to Fridays and some Saturdays. Owners at Blue Lupine told us they had complained about the dogs previously but nothing had resulted. If there is a bylaw about the number of dogs per household, it is not enforced. A few palms or shrubs planted along the section of walkway on the Blue Lupine side of the wall would improve the ascetics and view from the units ending in 03. That was our main 'complaint' with this rental. We also found the beds uncomfortable because they were LOW to the floor (photos also seemed to indicate this) .... being seniors with back issues, we need beds with box springs and mattresses as opposed to just a mattress on slats in a frame. Newman Dailey responded to our comments in this regard by providing two new foam mattress toppers and they did help. However, we will ensure beds in future units we rent are better suited to our needs. As this unit is over the open air parking garage, we found the tile floors were cold when outdoor temperatures dropped. Doing our stay for the month of November, we had the AC and the heating system on as required. Washer and dryer in the unit worked well. Refrigerator was noisy at times when Ice Maker was operating. There was a Toaster Oven rather than a toaster and silverware, dishes, misc utensils were adequate. Cuisinart Pots and Pans have seen better days but we did not need very much as we were able to grill - there were two propane grills. The large pantry was very convenient for storing cooler and groceries. Overall we enjoyed our stay on 30A and the South Walton area. We ate at a few of the local restaurants (Local Catch, Stinky's, Goatfeathers, and The Bay). The Thanksgiving Buffet at The Bay was WONDERFUL and we hope to return next year.... will be worth the drive from Destin!

My family had a wonderful stay at this unit. We loved the decorating, lay out of the condo and proximity to the pool/beach as well as 30A. The beach was beautiful . Perfect time of the crowd! Sarah was delightful to work with. Excellent communication! We will definitely be back!

Fall Break

We enjoyed the modern , airy, and clean condo. The walk to the beach is just down the main building hall, and out on a short boardwalk leading to the pool and beach. The master is nice with large closet and bath, but a king size bed and TV would really enhance it . More information showing where the fitness room, trash chute, and pool are located upon arrival would be helpful. The Newman Dailey team were very professional and helpful when I needed questions answered. The arrival gift was a welcome surprise after a long drive. The amenity card is nice too! The laundry room could use a light , but it was great having a washer/dryer. The kitchen was well equipped , just wish it had a tea-pot . Loved the soothing decor! Enjoyed our mornings on the large veranda. Thanks for a fun vacation. Barbara
