The guests just love Oceanmist Cottage, a perfect home away from home. The wood floors have recently been refinished, and this adorable cottage is just the place for your vacation getaway. This home is perfect for a large family or for a romantic getaway for mom and dad.

We picked Ocean Mist because it had a pool for the kids. Unfortunately when we arrived on Sat. the pool pump was broken and was not fixed until Monday. Newman Dailey did credit the cost of the pool heat back to us. The pool and deck furniture appear to be in need of a little TLC. Fortunately, there is a beautiful community pool in Crystal Shores that the kids enjoyed. The house was very clean and perfect for what we needed. The kitchen was well stocked with nice cooking utensils, dishware, etc. My husband enjoyed the view and breezes from the crow's nest, although it was in need of some paint/repair. The location was great and a close walk to the beach (We did this with five girls under age 8 at least once a day). If you want to be much closer you need to be on the beach or across the street. The house was close to shopping and restaurants. We liked the house and location...overall it was in pretty good shape for a beach rental. Don't recommend making a decision to rent it based soley on the pool...

This is the fourth or fifth time we've visited Destin and the third time we've stayed in Ocean Mist. The weather was beautiful despite weather forecasts predicting thunderstorms and the beaches were sparsely populated, as they always are in October. We have always enjoyed the lay-out and outdoor spaces, including the pool, at Ocean Mist and its proximity to the beach, shopping, and entertainment. Newman Dailey made the reservation and check-in process easy and convenient and the new code key entry eliminates the worry of loosing and tracking down keys. The only negative comment I have is that the mattresses and pillows weren't very comfortable. In fact, I went out to buy new pillows several days into the trip so that I could sleep better. So, bring your own pillows if you're picky about that sort of thing.

We enjoyed our stay at Ocean Mist. The splash pool was nice. Loved the view
from the third floor. One suggestion would be that the owner replace the
outdoor plastic furniture. Most of the pieces of furniture were cracked leading
to one being pinched. Also one of the beds upstairs is in need of some repair.

We had a great experience staying as a family at Ocean Mist. The beach was fantastic and so close! It's really a great house and the neighborhood was beautiful. I only wish the house had a little TLC. The outside of it was in desperate need of cleaning, the porches and outside furniture were also filthy, and there were a TON of little bugs flying around inside the kitchen window when we arrived. I cleaned all of the linens and the kitchen counters before we could feel comfortable enough to settle in. The staff at Newman Dailey were fantastic, though! I'd go through them again a heartbeat!!
A Wonderful Vacation

When my family and I decided to take a summer vacation to Destin Fl I instantly hit the net in search of the perfect vacation rental. We decided upon the Ocean Mist Cottage for several reasons. 1. its close proximity to the beach and 2. the amount of people the house could sleep. The house was amazing. Located just off Hwy 98 which is the main strip for tourist it was convenient to everything we wanted to do while in Destin. It was very clean upon arrival and very well kept. Oh and not to mention a five minute walk from the beach. The motor in the pool did stop working our second day there and it was not repaired before we left. The only other negative is that the two upper levels were substantially cooler than the first floor but if you are like my family we were only there at night so it wasn't a huge deal. Overall this house was a great fit for my family. The neighborhood was as cute and quaint as can be. We had a wonderful time and I would definitely recommend this house to family and friends. I rated four stars becuase of the issues with the air conditioner and the pool.

My husband and I got married in Destin Beach 12 years ago. We actually got married in the Hudson Blendhiem(Newman Dailey property). We love Destin and come almost every year since we were married. We have stayed in multiple properties but the Ocean Mist is our favorite. The pool is very nice and private. We love the 3rd floor deck (my husband calls it his crows nest)It feels like home when we stay there.

The house is close enough to the beach but if you have children or want to take chairs or a cooler it would be a bit of a walk. The house was very nice but had some issues. The pool was not clean and the hot tub was not working properly. There was also a problem with the a/c not working properly. By the last day of our visit the unit was leaking through the ceiling to the floor below in the kitchen. We had a good time anyway!

We generally do a minimum of two system checks each year in hopes of catching any repairs that may be needed, unfortunately those types of repairs can never be predicted. I do apologize if the home seemed further from the beach then you expected. Our vacation specialists are very knowledgeable regarding those types of details although I did notice that your reservation was made through an auction so you made not have had the chance to speak with one of our agents.
