We didn't want to let February pass without recognizing it is "American Heart Month," which reminds us of healthy living activities in Destin, Fla. that can help reduce your chances of heart disease.

Did you know that South Walton and Destin offer excellent hiking and biking trails? From Scenic Highway 30A through Destin, hikers and bicyclists can explore trails through hundreds of acres of forests and state parks along the Emerald Coast. With breathtaking views of unspoiled natural vegetation, rare coastal dune lakes and some of the nation’s most endangered species, it's exhilarating and healthy.

Visit www.floridastateparks.org and check out some of our beautiful state parks and great nature trails. Bring a bike or rent one at one of the many bike shops, including Big Daddy's Bike Rental and Bikes R Us in Destin to name a few.

Make sure you ask for the guide to hiking and biking at check-in and bring your walking shoes. See you on the trails!
