Seaside Rep Summer Series in South Walton

One of our favorite things about summer is the abundance of free outdoor performances along the Emerald Coast. Whether you're looking for live music, theater or movies on the lawn, there is usually an outdoor event taking place each day of the week in South Walton or Destin, Fla.

Those who enjoy live family theatrical productions will delight in the Seaside Repertory Theatre's summer series in beach towns along Highway 30A.  On Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m., the Seaside Rep will present Roald Dahl’s classic tale, James & The Giant Peach, in the town of Seaside, Fla. This tale is faithfully told by James himself (aka Seaside Rep cast member) and the insect characters — Miss Spider, Old-Green-Grasshopper, Centipede, Ladybird and Earthworm.

Each Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. in Rosemary Beach, Seaside Rep cast presents a  free performance on the lawn. This year's play is the "Amazing Adventures of the Marvelous Monkey King," which is sure to have everyone in the family chuckling. Need a mid-morning break, head down to Fonville Press in Alys Beach for "Adventures in Alys" each Monday and Thursday morning at 10 a.m.

If you have an aspiring thespian in your household, consider Seaside Rep's Camp Showtime! Camp Showtime is held each week (June 18 - Aug. 9) from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Tues., Thurs. & Fri.  The popular camp puts kids (grades 3-12) in the action, teaching them about live theater, including growing their skills in performance art, team building and storytelling. To learn more visit seasiderep.org or call 231-0733.

Enjoy the show!
