Christmas Reflections a Emerald Coast Holiday Tradition

‘Tis the season for lights and merriment. At Newman-Dailey, we enjoy celebrating many Emerald Coast holiday traditions, including the annual Destin Boat Parade (Dec. 13) and Christmas Reflections (through Dec. 31).

For those who have not made the trip to DeFuniak Springs (approx. 1 hour north of Destin), it is a special place that captures the history of our area and brings back classic holiday traditions. The perfectly round lake is surrounded by historic Victorian style homes as well as the historic Chautauqua Hall, which was built as part of the Chautauqua education movement that was popular during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.

In celebration of Christmas, all the surrounding homes are decorated with classic Christmas décor and the lakeyard is set aglow with more than six million twinkling lights that reflect off the lake.  A variety of Victorian, animal and toy soldier, and Santa’s workshop cutouts are featured alongside the millions of twinkling lights on the trees. Families can either walk the one mile loop for an up close and personal experience or drive around the lake. For those driving, there is a fee of $5/person, which helps underwrite the power bill to fuel the holiday splendor.

Christmas Reflections continues through Dec. 31 nightly from 5-9 p.m. Directions From US Hwy 98: Take U. S. Hwy 98 (Emerald Coast Pkwy) east to Hwy. 331 and head North to Defuniak Springs; turn right onto Live Oak Avenue (sixth red light); follow the entrance into Christmas Reflections.
