Pirates Invade This Weekend at the Billy Bowlegs Festival

Ahoy Matey! It’s that time of year! Yes, time for summer Florida beach vacations, but it’s also time for the Annual Billy Bowlegs Festival, June 4-8.  The dastardly Billy Bowlegs has been seen off the shores of the Emerald Coast and he’s planning to dock his ship at the Fort Walton Beach Landing.

On Friday, June 5 head to Fort Walton Beach landing for the Festival and Fireworks display.

On Saturday, land lubbers beware! On June 6 the festival grounds at Fort Walton Beach Landing open at 10 a.m. for a day of fun pirate revelry. At 4 p.m., the pirates will invade the landing and we’ll see if Mayor Anderson will be successful in repelling Captain Billy’s invasion. The festival will include live music, a kid’s pirate play area, as well as rock wall, Euro-bungee an Space Walk ($15/child for all day access to kids activities). The Billy Bowlegs 5K will take place at 9 p.m.

On Monday, June 8 the Torchlight Parade begins at 7 p.m. The parade will travel from First Street up Eglin Parkway as pirates throw loot to the crowd. Pirates are joined by their visiting Mardi Gras krewe cohorts, makin’ it a frollickin’ fun time for mateys of all ages.

Not coming to the beach until later this summer? No problem, there will still be opportunities to sail the seas in search of treasure on the Buccaneer Pirate Cruise!
