Things to Do in South Walton This Weekend - Flutterby Festival

We are enjoying the migration of the Monarch Butterfly through our region and the beautiful golden flitter of butterflies along the Emerald Coast.

The Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA) celebrates this natural wonder with the annual Flutterby Children's Art Festival, Nov. 9-10, in Rosemary Beach. As part of the annual event, children create their own butterfly wing masterpieces to wear in the butterfly costume parade each afternoon at 3 p.m.  Master gardener Snookie Parrish will teach families the art and science of building their own butterfly garden, and share lots of
fun facts on the special Monarch Butterfly, which lives longer than any other butterfly species.

Meyer Boarding Company will be on-site for families who wish to design their own skimboard or skateboard. Artists and vendors will be featured on the lawn, including interactive art with Moore Family Folk Art, where families can create their own artistic masterpiece with recycled materials on a painted board. Live music, dance, and performing art with Seaside Repertory Theater will also be featured during this colorful weekend event.

While you're there, stop by the East Green, where the Children's Volunteer Health Network is featuring Cottages for Kids' whimsical cottages. Creative playhouses, ranging from fairytale creations to modern designs, will be on display and auctioned off to benefit the children in need in Northwest Florida.

Make plans to flutter over the beach this weekend. We still have premier South Walton rentals and gulf-front Destin condos available. Stay 2 nights or more at one of 2 premier Destin Resorts or the charming Beachside Inn and enjoy our winter special of 15% off (some restrictions apply).
