Timpoochee Trail
The Timpoochee Trail is one of Southeast's most well-known bike trails. With an 18-mile paved path that runs parallel to Scenic Highway 30A, the trail connects 30A's beach towns from Dune Allen on the west to Inlet Beach to the east. The trail begins at the intersection of US Highway 98 and Scenic Highway 30A, providing access to some of the area's best attractions. The paved bike path is ideal for beach cruisers and ebikes, while the two-lane highway is preferred for competitive cyclists.
The first stop cyclists reach is Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, home to a diverse ecosystem ranging from forests to sandy dunes along the beach. Continue east to reach Gulf Place, a community of boutique shops, restaurants and an artist co-op. Across the street, Shunk Gulley Oyster Bar in Gulf Place is a favorite stop for fresh oysters and seafood with a view. The Timpoochee Trail continues through Blue Mountain Beach to Grayton Beach and Grayton Beach State Park (both great for cyclists). Continue the ride across Western Lake to meander through the new urbanism town of Seaside, where you can view the Truman House, famously featured in The Truman Show, starring Jim Carrey. Near the end of the trail, cyclists will find Deer Lake State Park, offering serene, natural, coastal views, along with Alys Beach and Rosemary Beach, known for their high-end shopping, dining, and stunning architecture. Whether you're looking for scenic beauty, adventure, or great food, the Timpoochee Trail provides a perfect way to explore the best of 30A.
